Tuesday, February 11th–Thursday, February 13th, 2025
Join us on campus at Abington, Lehigh Valley, and Scranton from February 11th–13th for a series of innovative workshops on how to get the most out of Top Hat. These workshops are designed for longtime users, new-comers, and those interested in student engagement!
Attendees will also hear from faculty from across disciplines about how they are using Top Hat to enhance their teaching and improve student engagement in their courses.
Sessions are open to all Penn State faculty. In-person attendance is recommended. However, a virtual option will also be made available to those across the commonwealth.

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Introduction to Top Hat
This interactive workshop will guide faculty through the essentials of designing an engaging lecture experience with Top Hat. Discover how to integrate interactive content, polls and quizzes, and harness real-time feedback to create a dynamic learning environment.
11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: 10 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do with Top Hat
During this session, attendees will receive an overview of some advanced ways to incorporate Top Hat into their course. We’ll cover how to use Top Hat synchronously and asynchronously, with a focus on engaging larger class sizes
12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.: Lunch
Faculty can enjoy lunch on us while having the chance to ask questions and get feedback on their Top Hat courses.
1 – 2:00 p.m.: Panel Session
What can we do to get students to lean into the learning experience? In this discussion, we’ll share the perspective of fellow Penn State faculty. What’s working? What isn’t? And how are go-to strategies like tailoring course content and emphasizing in-class activities with Top Hat creating a more lively, interactive learning environment?
2 – 3 p.m.: Extending Engagement Beyond the Classroom
Join us for a session on how to engage your students outside of the classroom with Top Hat. With Pages’ intuitive content creation and assessment tools, educators can extend engagement outside of class and build interactivity into every assignment.
3 – 4 p.m.: Office Hours and Product Feedback
Opportunity for attendees to share insights and suggestions.
